On Tuesday 6 August we hosted the premiere of New Zealand's Best 2024 at Embassy Theatre in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington and announced the Jury Award winners of the short films after the screening at ASB Waterfront Theatre in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Sunday 18 August.
Filmmaker Vea Mafile’o won the NZIFF Patrons Award for Best Short Film for the film Lea Tupu’anga/Mother Tongue in New Zealand’s Best 2024.
The jury awards were presented following the Auckland screenings at ASB Waterfront Theatre, as part of the festival’s Aotearoa Film Focus Weekend on Sunday 18 August.
