Ōtautahi Opening Night 2024

On Thursday 15 August, NZIFF opened in Ōtautahi Christchurch with three sold-out screenings of Jonathan Ogilvie's Head South. Between Lumière Cinemas and Hoyts EntX, crowds packed in to see the special Christchurch opening night film, that was shot in the Garden City itself, and inspired by Ogilvie's own experience growing up there in the 1970s and ’80s.

The special night was introduced by NZFFT Board Member, Robin Laing, and NZIFF Head of Programming, Michael McDonnell. After the screening, a post-film Q+A was done with Jonathan Ogilvie and producer, Antje Kulpe.
