On Saturday 5 August Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival in association with the Directors and Editors Guild of Aotearoa New Zealand was proud to present a masterclass with fimmaker Rolf de Heer. The masterclass took place at the Civic Wintergarden following a screening of Rolf de Heer's The Survival of Kindness at ASB Waterfront Theatre. Between the screening and the masterclass NZIFF hosted a New Zealand Sign Language-interpreted Q+A session with Aroha Awarau. Photos by John Rata. The Rolf de Heer masterclass was part of NZIFF Connect – a series of events providing opportunities for New Zealand filmmakers to broaden their knowledge and connect with each other and our visiting filmmakers. NZIFF Connect is supported by Artistic Development Partner Creative New Zealand and DEGANZ.
