It was a full house at the Embassy Theatre on Thursday evening, with filmmakers, industry members, and the finest film fans in Te Whanga-nui-a-Tara coming out to celebrate the Russell McVeagh Opening Night Gala of Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival in Wellington for 2023.
With opening remarks from NZFFT Board member Kaine Thompson, NZFFT Board Chair Catherine Fitzgerald, our Pouwhakahaere Matua | General Manager Sally Woodfield, and Upoko o te Rauhī Hōtaka | Head of Programming Michael McDonnell, we were thrilled to screen Justine Triet’s Palme d’Or-winning Anatomy of a Fall in such a lively, excited atmosphere. A sign of many more mid-winter festivities to come!
