Student Discount

Student discounts are available in every city. Depending on where you’re attending the festival, by buying a student ticket you will save between $2–$4 per ticket. Just remember to bring your student discount to your screening and to the box office if you’re buying in person!

Hot tip: Daytime sessions are usually cheaper. If you want to save even more, check out the info on our 5-trip passes below!

Student Multi-Trip Passes

Grab yourself a 5-trip pass for extra cheap tickets — only available for purchase in-person at our box offices. Check out the ‘Ticketing' page for Box Office info in your area. These passes are

NZIFF 2024 Student Auckland 5-Trip Pass $85.00 (down from $97.50)

NZIFF 2024 Student Wellington 5-Trip Pass $75.00 (down from $90.00)

NZIFF 2024 Student Christchurch 5-Trip Pass $70.00 (down from $80.00)

NZIFF 2024 Student Dunedin 5-Trip Pass $70.00 (down from $75.00)

Five-trip passes are flexible — you can use them for one ticket to five films, or five tickets to one film, or a mix! You can get four friends together and use a multi-trip pass to go see a film and save money!

Group Bookings

Do you and all your friends in your hall want to go to a film together? Great! We offer discounts on bookings for 20+ people.

Flick Amanda an email at with how many tickets, which film, and which session you’d like to attend, and she will sort you out.

Last Night Was a Movie — NZIFF 2024 Zine

Keep an eye out around your campus for the first-ever NZIFF Zine. Last Night Was a Movie is here to guide you through the festival, whether you’re into horror flicks, social justice, new Spotify playlists, crosswords, or word-finds! It’s got all the info you need, plus it will keep you company while you wait for your next screening.

Head to uni to grab one… then leave right away and go to the cinemas to see films!
